Foreword

Welcome to the new issue of Soldier Modernisation. We have major conflicts across the globe, with no sign of stopping, this is placing a strain on global arms and ammunition stocks. The Ukraine war has changed the face of modern warfare, the effectiveness of drone technology and how vehicle and man mounted anti-UAS technology is evolving. Units in the field are no longer all together, providing better cover and making it harder to detect. This also means effective communication is a problem both within the unit and back to control.

Within the journal, and online, our programmes list has been nearly fully updated allowing you to view exactly what the major global militaries are buying and how they are strengthening. The journal carries a shorter list, with the complete list on our web portal: www.soldiermod.com. Here you can also look back through our archives and ask any questions.

We have a US Command's view on SOF week and how it will help optimize human performance. We look at the radio system used during Operation African Lion, which ties in with a great article from Thales on SquadNet and DTC on the future of military communications, all worth a read.

With the British Army we look at how the Paras are handling the drone threat, we also look at sighting technology with Sentinel, Vected and Teledyne Qioptiq.

The EDA are looking at effective power solutions, which brings us over to Kinected Solutions' innovative new power hub, worth a read as well.

We look at military service with the French Army and we have a great training article from our friends in Australia.
